The dance floor was crowded <br />as the music from the rostrum played. <br />A ladies excuse me was called, <br />you took my hand and led me onto the floor. <br />We danced to the tunes that followed <br />getting closer as each dance went through. <br />It seemed as if you were never going to let go <br />and I found myself a partner, <br />a partner for now and always. <br />We looked into one another’s eyes <br />needing nothing to say. <br />Tonight I held my future <br />at the ladies excuse me. <br />The magic prevailed <br />and the dance floor disappeared <br />as we kept on dancing <br />amongst the moon and stars. <br />We looked into one another’s eyes <br />needing nothing to say <br />because we both knew in our hearts <br />this dance was going to last <br />for ever and always. <br />We would dance forever together <br />through the good times and the bad, <br />dancing together forever <br />though to our sunset days. <br /> <br /> <br />3 November 2009<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/tonight-i-held-my-future/
