Dear Lord I am coming today <br />to you for some answers, <br />which keep plaguing me. <br />Answers for which you can only give. <br />Why it is each time you seem to open a door for me, <br />yet when I reach it to go in, <br />the door slams in my face. <br />So many times in my life this has happened, <br />my life of joy one minute is lead to despair the next. <br />Yet to my friends the door stays open for them. <br />It makes me feel like crying instead of carrying on. <br />I give my unconditional love to everyone, <br />friend and foe alike. <br />Yet your love like my late parents <br />keeps turning me away. <br />What have I done so very wrong <br />you want to deny the goals I seek in my life? <br />I cannot deny you have given me things, <br />a loving wife and family friends from all over the world. <br />Therefore, why then do you deny my dreams of a better life, <br />and dash them every time they come close. <br />Dear Lord you know the answers, <br />please help me to understand. <br />Because without those answers <br />I do not feel any kind of man. <br />So I am turning to you <br />Dear Lord help me understand.<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-sunday-prayer-11/
