What happened to that smile that I used to know? <br />What happened to all the hugs and kisses where did they go? <br />Are they nothing more than a fleeting memory <br />That does not fill the chasm between your heart and me? <br />What happened to those longing stares, stares of adoration, <br />While I was at work, or the store, or playing the Playstation? <br />What happened to the hugs that kept me from falling apart? <br />You're no longer around, and I won't lie, it's ripping up my heart. <br />You ripped up the apology I sent to you, or at least so I've heard, <br />But I know that deep inside my love is singing a song for you, like a caged bird <br />Every night before I go to sleep, thoughts of you race through my head, <br />And I long to see you again, but not like our last encounter, in a peaceful way instead. <br />And your presence always rests within me, for your voice rings through my ears <br />What happened to the times when I honored you, and you honored me, with numerous daily cheers? <br />The memories aren't fading, but they are darkend by the form of blood, sweat and tears. <br />How did I lose such a wonderous friend, there could none to replace you? <br />And though you don't believe me, I still care for you, yes, it's true. <br />Deep inside I know the painful truth, that I am here not wanting to move on <br />But you must admit there is no other jewel like you under the moon, stars or sun. <br />And you are already releasing, letting go of a painful history, <br />That painful history, I must admit, which was painful because of me. <br />I'm sorry for it, I truly am, and I hope someday you'll come to see, <br />That I just want to be your friend again, and I hope someday you will also want to be friends again with me.<br /><br />chad fisher<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/what-happened-to-our-friendship/
