The memories of what was I do retain
In fancy I stand on the stony hill again
North, south, east and west I can see far and wide
Across the sunlit brown old countryside
The old stony hill it is so old in time
Long before the dinosaur age reached it's prime
And long before people came and built the town
The old stony hill stood tall in a landscape of brown
The creek from the foot of the hill it is trickling slow
It carried more water many Seasons ago
Long droughts caused by climate change has left the landscape bare
And wildlife sad to say have never been so rare
From the old stony hill I now live far away
But in fancy I climb to it's summit today.

Francis Duggan

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-old-stony-hill/
