To Australia in the Southern Pacific Summer has made her way <br />The first of December a beautiful day <br />Song birds sing and whistle on the sunlit trees <br />And the sweet scent of hay wafts in the warm breeze <br />The air full of the buzzings of flies and of bees <br />On a temperature high of twenty seven degrees <br />The swallows above the sunlit paddock chirp as they fly <br />And for food the young magpies to their parents cry <br />The creek flowing at a trickle and the water dam low <br />But despite climate change the Seasons come and go <br />The paddocks around are looking lush and green <br />And beautiful flowers everywhere to be seen <br />The first of December and birds chirp and sing <br />It's welcome to Summer and good bye to Spring.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-first-of-december/
