I searched for God around me everywhere <br />Searched for him in the woods but did not see him there <br />Searched for him in the river the stream and the rill <br />Did not see him there so I climbed up the hill <br />And gazed on the countryside all around me <br />But God he was not there him I could not see <br />I searched for God on the blossoming trees <br />Buzzing with the sounds of nectar gathering bees <br />Searched for him on the beaches and the park by the bay <br />But God from my eyes was well hidden away <br />Then I met a woman the years had left gray <br />Her beautiful smile and cheery hello brightened up my day <br />One who shared her gift of happiness so lovely and kind <br />In her I see God in her God I did find.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-searched-for-god-2/
