On Christmas Day some Aubane people people climb Mushera hill <br />A tough uphill trek in the damp morning chill <br />Young people and people well beyond their life prime <br />Some of them have climbed Mushera many a time <br />I've often climbed Clara but never Mushera hill <br />Never even tried and doubtless I ever will <br />From green old Duhallow I live far away <br />And I'll never climb Mushera on Christmas Day <br />I felled pine trees by Mushera many years ago <br />When the old hill above me wore patches of snow <br />But to climb to Mushera's summit I never did try <br />I was never good at hill climbing that I won't deny <br />But the Mushera hill climbers one can only admire <br />And of singing their praises could one ever tire.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-mushera-hill-climbers/
