The rain falls gently now <br />The drought is at its peak <br />The land is so dry <br />Even here <br />In the foothills <br />The earth has become dust. <br /> <br />The plants and trees <br />Welcome the arrival <br />of wet droplets filtering <br />Down to earth from sky <br />A blessing for this dry landscape. <br /> <br />It seems as if we are on the brink of change <br />Yet the resistance still lingers <br />Communication has become an industry <br />As our emotions are traded and our needs exploited. <br />People have become mere predator and prey <br />As our packs are formed and our bridges severed. <br /> <br />Broken down people in a broken down world <br />Where there is war raging <br />Climate change <br />And injustice all over the planet <br />My children bicker in the background <br />As i hurriedly type <br />And i wonder if there will ever be any peace. <br />So i flow with my feelings <br />AS the rain falls <br />I dance and feel tears gently release from my eyes <br />I am letting go <br />As i stretch and move my body. <br /> <br />The rain has stopped now <br />there is a feeling of restoration <br />Outside <br />The birds are talking <br />And the earth is soaking up the moisture <br />Like a sponge <br />Drawing sustenance deep into her viens <br />Underground streams are flowing <br />I can feel it. <br /> <br />My daughters sit and watch me type <br />And chatter around me like cheeky monkeys <br />Oblivious to my feelings...or are they? <br />Violet said today that i am dying <br />And then she went and dressed in black <br />I hope shes wrong <br />I wonder <br />if other poetess mums create in the same way... <br /> <br />When they can <br />Snatching moments when creativity strikes <br />And biding <br />Their <br />Time. <br /> <br />2nd November 2006.<br /><br />black panther eyes eastick<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-rain-28/
