God’s Lamb is knocking doors today
No longer on The Tree
He’s calling sheep who’ve gone astray
He’s calling you and me

He’s calling us to look inside
Explore our bowels of shame
To query things we seek to hide
God’s anger could inflame

Too long we’ve lived a foolish lie
Too long we’ve failed to see
Believing till the day we die
That Heaven cannot be

Too long we’ve laughed our God to scorn
Spitting in Jesus’ face
Filling the devil’s cup and horn
Living in deep disgrace

Though eighty years within a pew
Or in a house of whores
To share His love through life anew
God’s knocking still our doors

The blood of Christ’s still calling out
His arms are open wide
Hoping today we’ll turn about
And walk to love inside

Who’ll open God their tainted door?
Bid Heaven’s Light within?
Set true their course for Heaven’s shore?
Away from wilful sin

Who’ll tell The Lord they wish to live?
Cease now to disobey?
Accept the cross He’ll choose to give
And walk the narrow way

Michael P.
