Chaplains on a Wall <br />by TD Euwaite <br /> <br />Lieutenant Capodanno <br />Chaplain, U.S. Navy <br />Repeatedly… <br />Ran toward enemy fire <br />Dragging Marines to safety <br />Many wounds, arms, legs, face <br />Mortar round blew off a hand <br />Again he ran, this time <br />To a Corpsman on the ground, <br />Heavy machine gun rounds <br />Cut him down <br /> <br />Major Watters <br />Chaplain,173rd Airborne Brigade <br />After the perimeter was pulled back <br />Three times he stepped over the wire <br />Through friendly and unfriendly fire <br />Brought solders back, on his back <br />Fell while aiding the wounded <br /> <br />There’s a long, low wall in Washington <br />Many named there <br />Passed to the next life <br />While holding the hands of these <br />When you go, passing slowly <br />Whisper low and softly <br />Thank you<br /><br />T.D.
