I sit by myself
In a field
Far away.
nothing invades my space
Except the silence of the sun
And the cool air
Going into my chest.
The sun finally answers my question
One I had asked all day.
I asked how much time was left
And when my solitude would end.

He answered me
By leaving
And beginning his watch
Over someone else.
Before he left,
He assured me there would be a guardian
Not too far behind.
His sister appeared as he vanished
And I saw her pale face
Too soon.
I was captivated by her glow
And I watched for the rest of the night
To see if she would give me
Any answer.
~Written on 8 March 2013.
