For the sake of his tricks some Doves must always die
Rabbits will suffer while Pigeons glutton themselves
Holed up in the seats below......
There will be curtains and colorful scarves to conceal their pain
The sounds of their final heartbeats....drowned by
The applause from those who wish to see
The Magician perform his tricks again.....
With swords and daggers
And the sharp blade of a proper Guillotine
Heads will roll and little lives will perish....
the Pigeons will always coo for more
The Magician promises to surprise them all
Pulling flowers from a hat.....then throwing them on the floor
There are many beautiful flowers as with any funeral
Their freshly cut scent to conceal the smell of Death
Bowing with a graceful wave of his gloved hands
The Magician solicits a female from his audience....
All eyes will now witness for themselves
His final and greatest trick of all
Revenge.....served cold....

2007 © T Sheridan

Ted Sheridan

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/slight-of-hand/
