I am a man of intelect no doubt, <br />But intelect can lead to critical straits. <br /> <br />A man of occasional humour yes, <br />But one who finds it hard to laugh. <br /> <br />A happy past, <br />Tainted by a bleak present. <br /> <br />Grimmaces in bed to myself every night, <br />Yes I feel broken. <br /> <br />Sit at the same desk every day, <br />Wearing the same face. <br /> <br />Tell the same stories to make them laugh, <br />Yet ultimately I never smile. <br /> <br />I depress my myself, with my self-obsessed nature, <br />Do charity work to make myself feel better. <br /> <br />I learnt to take things on the chin early on in college, <br />But so many blows to the chin have left me broken. <br /> <br />Knowing what is desired, <br />And what cannot be held. <br /> <br />But hating myself for feeling like this, <br />When they have made me like it. <br />You have made me like this.<br /><br />Richard Lexus<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-real-person-broken/
