Who am I?
If not confined by these four walls?
Just a quiet mouse, creeping by
Making no impact on the tide?
How is it,
That this sea,
Has so beaten me?
Tugged me with it's flights of fancy,
To unknown depths,
And blistering beaches,
Yet to the outside world,
I am a silent, odd creature.

This 'glass' I must now step thorugh,
But what awaits; if not coffee spoons?
I will be judged on my exterior features,
No one will peer into this memory,
And see how far I've really come,
They know not how I worked on re-building me,
Merely silence and an obscure tongue.

How can I prove myself?
With intellect, when I'm too shy to speak?
With knowledge of evil, but not of it's retreat?

Because I am who I am,
Though many can't relate,
So I pray that you tell me.
What subjects do I breach?
When often my perception,
Is so out of reach.

This glass is near,
I've been looking for years,
And trust me friend,
I'll journey through,
Pray karma heeds me,
And helps me too...

Eleanor Best

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/journey-through-a-pane-of-glass/
