Like two pendulums casually meeting <br />With hearts synchronized and beating <br />Swinging in unison... utterly euphoric <br />Like two burning candles with one wick <br /> <br />Without a clue, the movement shifted <br />Mutual intent and commitment drifted <br />Goals and needs required different means <br />Forces began to change our shared dreams <br /> <br />Looking for understanding and giving support <br />I looked for answers, but always came up short <br />Our combined unity became inconsistent... <br />Purpose was uncertain; objectives were distant <br /> <br />Like two pendulums vacillating out of sync <br />Our perpetual harmony misplaced its link <br />Destined to separate and change courses <br />Feeling bewildered and experiencing remorse <br /> <br />Chance meetings and coincidental transitions <br />Placed us in a realm of curious suppositions <br />Wondering how and why our affection died… <br />Going on with our lives with walls that divide. <br /> <br />As the seasons passed and my hair turned gray <br />Years have soften the pain... much to my dismay <br />The pendulum is slowing and we often meet <br />Without angry disputes or blistering irate heat <br /> <br />We now have only best hopes for one another <br />Accepting the past that caused us to smother <br />We smile and laugh as only the tolerant can do <br />With reflection, compassion for one another grew<br /><br />Theresa Ann Moore<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/life-in-motion/
