So clearly in my dream
Your figure is portrayed,
I hear your voice so strong and firm
Yet soft without betrayal.

I hug your jolly figure
And with tear-filled eyes you gleam,
We hold the lives of one another
Not knowing it's a dream.

The happiness I feel
The hope of seeing you,
I anticipate the thought
That maybe it is true.

The gun was never put to your head
They never heard the shot,
I dreamt the entire death
Nonsense as I thought.

But the fog begins to drift
Into the scene we play,
Now we're saying goodbye
You've led me astray

I thought it was a dream
You misled me, I trusted you
No you can't, you can't be gone
Someone tell me it's not true

Tears are streaming down my face
As I'm driven away,
He's nothing but a shadow now
My hope begins to fray.

I awake in quite a sweat
Of anguish, fear and dread,
Reality begins to hit
My best friend's really dead.

Summer Sandercox

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/it-was-just-a-dream/
