The trees may stand tall <br />and the grass may be green, <br />but there is more beyond. <br />Ugliness can be seen. <br />You laugh and scream at picnics, <br />you see animals at the zoo, <br />you lay on the grass waiting for the sun... <br />but pollution won't let it through. <br />Buildings rise so high <br />even trees cannot compare, <br />always reaching for the sky, <br />but never getting there. <br />Boxes here and boxes there <br />made of steel and bricks. <br />Moving away from nature, <br />creating our own cliques. <br />The water is gray and sad, <br />no longer crystal clear; <br />trash lines the shores: <br />paper, plastic, glass bottles of beer. <br />The fashions may be happening, <br />and inventions are ticking away, <br />but how much longer will this last, <br />living like this day after day?<br /><br />Aimee Rozen<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/welcome-to-reality/
