Seems like only a few days ago <br />In with the wind, something blew <br />We welcomed the first few <br />But then out came the entire crew. <br /> <br />We wanted to share the land <br />But they were too greedy <br />They took our land from us <br />Doing this they were speedy. <br /> <br />They killed my brothers <br />My family all disappeared <br />I saw what they did to those who were bad <br />Of them, I was feared <br /> <br />They killed without mercy <br />The animals perished, I almost died <br />With lack of food and culture <br />It was so sad that I always cried <br /> <br />That was long ago though <br />Their ways have changed <br />The words, more painful than death <br />We are all estranged. <br /> <br />The colour of our skin <br />We should not be judged by <br />Our past can stay in the past <br />But for the past some cannot deny.<br /><br />Maddie Shanahan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/past-present-and-future-where-are-you-living/
