A door <br />got on the train <br /> <br />sat beside me <br />by the window <br /> <br />near <br />the dining area. <br /> <br />“Where are you <br />Going? ” <br /> <br />I asked politely <br />making conversation. <br /> <br />“Nowhere...fast! ” <br />it snapped <br /> <br />closing itself <br />off <br /> <br />from further <br />questionings. <br /> <br />“I’m going Somewhere! ” <br />I told him <br />(apropos of nothing) <br /> <br />even though <br />he wasn’t listening. <br /> <br />“But a Somewhere <br />I don’t know <br /> <br />...as yet! ” <br /> <br />I fall asleep <br />fitfully <br /> <br />dreaming of <br />nothing <br /> <br />(in particular) . <br /> <br />When I awoke <br />the door was gone. <br /> <br />Got off <br />at the last stop <br /> <br />bar one. <br /> <br />I continued <br />continuing on <br /> <br />to the final <br />stop.<br /><br />Dónall Dempsey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/last-stop/
