Uneasiness filled the air <br />As a stranger rode into town <br />Tension was stretched so thin <br />It was felt by everyone around <br /> <br />Animals felt the stress as well <br />Some scurried from the spot <br />More riders circled ‘round <br />The tension was getting hot <br /> <br />Guns were drawn and ready <br />Hands on holsters as well <br />Everyone growing apprehensive <br />Worried hearts began to swell <br /> <br />It was the day when no one knew <br />For sure how things would go <br />When a stranger rode into town <br />Life immediately began to slow <br /> <br />It was a time when folks were leary <br />Afraid to trust their fellow man <br />A shame if we become that way again <br />Not so hard now to understand!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/back-in-the-old-west/
