I have a fascination <br />For women who walk the street <br />I wonder why they’ve chosen <br />To look for men to meet <br />For just a fleeting moment <br />As they peddle their worn-out wares <br />They try to make the world believe <br />That they have no heartfelt cares <br />They take a chance on meeting <br />A man that’s full of sin <br />But strangely they keep doing it <br />Are they hoping they’ll find ‘him’? <br />Are they praying as they pocket <br />The money that they make <br />That they’ll find a guy to love them <br />A man who won’t just take? <br />So when we say our nighttime prayers <br />Let’s say one just for them <br />These women who walk the street <br />For their lives to truly begin!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/women-on-the-street/
