There was excitement back in the old west <br />As cities were created from scratch <br />Sometimes drew the kind of folks <br />Where lawlessness started to hatch <br /> <br />And that was the way with Dodge City <br />Riff-raft moved in and created crime <br />Oh, what a time it was back then <br />Quite different from any other time <br /> <br />Until the law enforcement came along <br />Naturally things got out of hand <br />But of course as time past by <br />Peace and law came to the land <br /> <br />Farms were built and families grew <br />And towns sprung up all around <br />A sheriff kept control of things <br />Basically towns were safe and sound <br /> <br />How different life was from then till now <br />As technology as come our way <br />But is it better now than back then? <br />In some ways it’s hard to say!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/old-west-excitement/
