So beautiful and impressive <br />The Clydesdales have such grace <br />A purebred you can tell for sure <br />For his lineage you’ll surely trace <br /> <br />But long ago they weren’t so lucky <br />Heavy loads they had to carry <br />Worked so hard out in the fields <br />No time to groom them or time to tarry <br /> <br />Farming the land was foremost <br />In the minds of the tired farmers <br />Not much time for showing his horses off <br />To display the handsome charmers <br /> <br />It was plowing from sunup till sundown <br />Dragging logs to built a house or barn <br />Out in the muck and dust they were <br />Not much time to spin a yarn <br /> <br />But now Clydesdale's can take it easy <br />And I’m so happy that it’s true <br />For I’ve seen these beautiful animals <br />I know you’d love to see them too!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-farming-life/
