some piece of this summer story <br />reminded me so regretfully <br />of a happier chapter <br />when I thought more creatively <br /> <br />and how I felt was more important <br />how I looked was less important <br />I was only trying to impress you <br />now I have to impress everyone <br /> <br />I abandoned all means <br />of cheering myself up <br />in exchange for <br />dressing myself up <br /> <br />what class, what style <br />new dress, fake smile <br />now I know how to do the walk <br />I've mastered the art of small talk <br /> <br />my friends look at me and say <br />good for her, she's found her way <br />everyone prefers my disguise <br />instead of the ugly girl it hides <br /> <br />from t-shirts and jeans to pretty and chic <br />these new shoes are so last week <br />but it looks like I'm in luck <br />designer flats,300 bucks <br /> <br />I look good, but how do I feel? <br />can I be beautiful and still be real? <br />they think it's better when I wear the best <br />it doesn't matter, I'll still be depressed <br /> <br />it won't change a single thing anyway <br />because I've noticed from day to day <br />regardless of what I try to be <br />no one ever ends up loving me.<br /><br />Jade Leven<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/becoming-beautiful/
