The horizon of his mind is dark,
Black clouds of thought hang low,
When this storm breaks there'll be no ark.
She's changed the status quo.

I promised her the world,
And she promised me her heart.
I failed to see where malice curled,
I wish I'd known from the start.

She retains regret within her heart,
She never meant him ill.
She doesn't know how to impart,
The fact she loves him still.

She felt sure she loved him,
He made her feel alive.
Then love's light began to dim,
She want's friend's love to survive.

For infidelity he hates her,
And yet she is forgiven.
To stay friends she would prefer.
Yet we know that won't occur.

Alexander Steen Stewart

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/from-the-eagle-s-eye/
