As sweet scented as forgotten loved old book, <br />As engaging as a crisp spring bloom, <br />Is that full of love smile, <br />From a child, <br />Growing into womanhood <br />Unknown to the holder, <br />Behold her, the child–girl. <br /> <br />Golden hair, sun kissed with rose. <br />Tender and graceful, <br />Healer to the heart, <br />In her own small touch, <br />Purity makes up her whole, <br />Eyes of god – no wonder, <br />She is an angel child. <br /> <br />Pain in the soul, <br />This baby face doll, <br />Holds the pain inside, <br />So deep and buried, <br />So long since recovered, <br />Bitter-less is this child-girl. <br /> <br />Yet she is unusual to the world view, <br />She is not worth the time as much as man, <br />She is an object of courtship. <br />Not an equal in mind or thought. <br />Destined to emptiness is this child-girl.<br /><br />Melissa Coventry<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/worldly-child-girl/
