You are a breath of fresh air.
Your energy and optimism are contagious.
I’m glad I wandered into your sphere of influence.
Perhaps I will become one of your moons,
Circling around you forever,
With my smiling face always turned toward you.

I could not have known you were coming.
I had forgotten that I needed you.
I had lost track of what I needed,
Like a nearly blind man who didn’t know he was blind,
Needing his glasses.

And then you arrived, from far away,
How or why I can’t say. Providence I guess.
But now it’s done, and you’re here, in my heart,
Where you belong, and where I hope you will stay.

We will plant beautiful flowers in the stubborn ground,
Coaxing them to glory.
Encouraging them to be all they can be,
As you and I will encourage each other to do the same.

You will sow new ribbons on my old Gordon Highlanders cap,
And I will help you decide what should go where. Pink or white?
And we will get younger every day until we are children again,
Romping through the flowers we planted together.

Robin D McCutcheon

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/love-poem-25/
