I've never been a military type of person <br />And fought in wars like the Gulf and Vietnam <br />But despite that i too have see some action <br />I've seen two grown men brawl at Pakenham. <br /> <br />I watched them in the Pakenham Football Oval <br />In what one might call an incident off the ball <br />They punched and wrestled in the muddy goal square <br />And precious little was at stake at all. <br /> <br />I've never seen any of the World's seven wonders <br />Or been to India and Pakistan <br />But i have seen the coots on the lake at Jells Park <br />Do something quite impossible to man. <br /> <br />They outdid Christ by running on the water <br />And whilst others walked on i could only stare <br />I witnessed one of Nature's marvellous miracles <br />Yet something not considered to be rare. <br /> <br />I've never seen the Pyramids of Egypt <br />Or been to the Land of the Midnight Sun <br />And i've never seen the wildebeest on the Serengeti <br />In herds of thousands on their migration run. <br /> <br />Yet i have witnessed miracles of Nature <br />Such miracles as give rise to delight <br />But when i told of what i had seen to others <br />They ruined my joy by saying 'a common sight'.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-miracles-of-nature/
