She had found something special <br />Treasure or curse, she couldn’t tell, as yet <br /> <br />This magical canvas pulsed with a life of its own, <br />Vibrant colours adorned thick edges, hiding layered emotion <br /> <br />She was hypnotised by colours whirling, <br />Churning and blending in a mad medley, near the centre <br /> <br />Forming a bright halo, speckled with dark gliding shadows <br />Before tumbling and spinning again <br /> <br />At the very centre, white space poised still <br />Its hushed presence a surprise, amidst the coloured hustle <br /> <br />Was this the empty space, she'd left behind? <br />Or was it a door to the future, which beckoned <br /> <br />Drawing her in, with mystery unknown <br />Tempting her to paint desires <br /> <br />To dream of colours that would <br />Transform emptiness, into a future bold <br /> <br />This empty space was magical, she knew <br />For as soon as her brush strokes rested <br /> <br />The colours would stay awhile, <br />Before tip-toeing away <br /> <br />To join that mad medley of <br />Colours whirling, churning and blending <br /> <br />To create a moving chiaroscuro, <br />That was her life<br /><br />Anita Atina<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-empty-space-left-behind/
