The son of a high court judge his family never poor <br />And he in his late twenties is financially secure <br />A young man with a bright future he has a law degree <br />And he's already near the top of the high social tree. <br /> <br />He is paid huge sums of money and money gives one power <br />And for his services he commands three hundred bucks an hour <br />He gets more than two thousand dollars for an eight hour working day <br />It seems a lot of money for anyone to pay. <br /> <br />Even if the Government take a third in tax he is still doing quite okay <br />And he doesn't have to struggle like many do just to live from day to day <br />He gets paid more for one hour than many for a week do <br />In a World where many of hunger die he's one of the privileged few. <br /> <br />The worker dismissed by his ex boss has not been fully paid <br />And to come by wages due to him he applies for legal aid <br />But if he is refused legal aid and without legal support <br />He ought to cut his losses and forget about the court. <br /> <br />A solicitor he cannot afford to pay for to fight for him his case <br />And if he is refused legal aid the truth he has to face <br />That without legal assistance he may as well not sue <br />And his ex boss can keep the wages that to him are overdue. <br /> <br />He does not have to sweat and toil under an overseer <br />And he earns more for three weeks work than most do in a year <br />He works for corporations and they pay him willingly <br />And if I do seem jealous of him he won't be worrying about me.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-solicitor/
