When I was frantic <br />Desperate to rhyme… <br />I was looking for it <br /> <br />When I adopted Amiability <br />Trying not to tread on anyone’s toes… <br />I was searching for it <br /> <br />I then changed to Amicable Aggression <br />Letting my presence felt… <br />I was after it <br /> <br />When I crammed many different ideas in one stanza <br />Trying to comply with the demands of Brevity… <br />I was stalking it <br /> <br />When I sought after unfamiliar words <br />Desperate to sound educated… <br />I was looking for it <br /> <br />Even when I tried being artistic <br />And blending different figures of speech… <br />I was looking for it still <br /> <br />But now I’m battling to keep up <br />Desperate to catch my breath, <br />Compelled to despair <br /> <br />I am done chasing after Perfection <br />Perhaps when the time is right <br />It will come crawling to me.<br /><br />Stella Sisanda Qishi<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-was-looking-for-it/
