The cage is painted black with anger
A small hole shines light in showing what it would be like to be free
Being held together with doubt, fear, and lack of trust
So many have already been let go from the cage
The one holding me is different
I cannot escape it
No matter how old I get
The walls holding it together will not fall
It will never lose its doubt, fear and lack of trust
As months and years go by I am beginning to lose hope
Lose hope that one day the cage will be lifted and I will be free
Free to explore all that life has to offer
It has held me for too long and I am beginning to push on the walls
Every time I do
I just end up painting another layer of black on the inside of my cage
As the layers grow thicker and thicker
I realize I may never escape
The black may suffocate me before I ever become free

jason zas

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-black-cage-filled-with-anger/
