The slender warming fingers of fading light,
Caressing the earth like a sweet lover’s face.
The golden sun settles behind the old hills,
Giving forth its’ final light for the day.
And so like the sun from you I must depart,
But never in the night will you be left all alone.

Unlike the sun I will not rise in the morn,
I will not be there to welcome your kiss.
When the air becomes cold, my arms bring no warmth
My hand won’t be there to hold close on to yours.

Though your heart may be filled with sadness and tears,
You shan’t ever forget that your path still goes on.
The love of my life and my greatest of friends,
Keep close in your heart that there is never “good-bye”.

Stephen Rule

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/sunset-52/
