The gust of cool breeze blows suddenly, <br />In my home on the fifth floor in Jasmine building: <br />I find on only one side of my forearm pleasant sensation <br />And seconds later, it hits my shin, swirling <br />Below the dining table, making hair on my legs <br />Quiver into awareness. <br /> <br />When our cat Dinku sees me <br />Near the open window <br />He is ready to scratch my leg; <br />His way of telling me <br />To lift him to the freedom of the window-sill <br />Where he ‘window-catches’ crows and pigeons <br />For pastime, the poor spastic that he is. <br /> <br />As I lift to indulge him, and look out to feel <br />The breeze, I find huge dusty gray waves <br />Rolling across the atmosphere <br />Through the open spaces beside the FDA office <br />To the mangrove-banked Mithi River <br />Flowing dirtily down to Arabian Sea. <br /> <br />24.02.08<br /><br />Daniel Trevelyn Joseph<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/breeze-8/
