Oh if we had a baby boy, <br />We would love him all through the day. <br />At night we would watch him <br />While he was asleep. <br />After a giggle filled fun day of play! <br /> <br />We would sigh while we watched <br />With tears in our eyes, <br />And thank our Father above! <br />For sending him here to bless our home <br />And fill our hearts with his love! <br /> <br />Then just imagine if after he grew <br />He left home and travelled away. <br />We’d hear of him working great miracles <br />From sun up till the end of each day! <br /> <br />But he had no place to lay his dear head <br />But on soft pillows we sleep each night. <br />If only he’d stop doing what he did <br />He could come home and all would be right! <br /> <br />Right then while thinking all of these things, <br />A Dove descended from out of the sky, <br />It spoke and assured us our Son was now His, <br />And had a plan to work from on high! <br /> <br />He said “You will not like what soon you shall hear, <br />Happening to the Son you have raised! <br />Just be certain that after all these things are done, <br />You shall Praise His Holy name! <br /> <br />This is the reason I sent Him to you <br />To care for and love all these years. <br />Your mission was the very most special one, <br />Someday He shall wipe away all your tears!<br /><br />Robert Edgar Burns<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-son-to-save-us/
