Is the person you betray before the world the real you <br />Or does the real person lurk unseen <br />Are all the smiles smokescreens of deceit? <br />Because you don’t like the real you. <br /> <br />Do we hide behind keyboards and words? <br />To hide the real feelings we hold so dear <br />Everything in our world has shattered <br />Our own true feelings are the only thing left unscathed. <br /> <br />We dare not chance them to be seen in the <br />Cold light of the real world afraid that someone will <br />Pick them up and smash them to pieces too. <br />Self-loathing? No. But a sense of not fitting in either. <br /> <br />Poets are a funny lot. We have our families. <br />And a handful, if that; of close friends. That’s why sites like <br />These spawn friendships with like like-minded souls <br />Of people who hide from normal folk.
