On the ground by the camellia tree her flower petals in decay <br />And birds whistling and chirping on this sunny Spring day <br />The flowers that bloom in Winter die quickly in the Spring <br />Even before most young birds have taken to wing. <br /> <br />The pink petals of the camellia flowers lay rotting on the ground <br />And blackbird searching for slugs and worms keep scattering them around <br />It is the law of Nature that all things of life must die <br />Though the wild born birds are singing and the sun shines in the sky. <br /> <br />The pink camellia petals lay by their tree of birth <br />Their mother tree that one day too will return to Mother Earth <br />And some birds still nest building and Spring has just begun <br />And the sparrows on the garden hedge are chirping in the sun.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-pink-camellia-petals/
