The gloomy atmosphere that comes with the storm takes them by surprise. <br />The journey over have been better then most, but still. <br />The sound of the ships cannons cannot be ignored. <br />And so, with little or no sleep, the men march ashore. <br /> <br />As the hatch from the boat opens the guns open fire. <br />A handful die, yet the most survive. <br />As they rush towards the sandbank, they see them all. <br />All of them who tried but failed. <br /> <br />And in silence they pray, <br />They pray, to a god that they don't believe in. <br />They pray, for a better life for those who don't have any life left. <br />They pray, that the will see their families again. <br /> <br />So now, they've reached the sandbank. <br />And the fire from the guns cannot reach them any more, <br />And the blast from the cannon is silent. <br /> <br />But suddenly a sharp whistle is heard <br />And we rush once again, toward death.<br /><br />Martin Holm Sjölin<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-landing-2/
