You are the good ol’ days I long to reach <br />And I hope I’ll get back to those days anytime soon <br />For now I think I’ve got everything sober <br />And if you don’t mind me asking, have you? <br /> <br />Waking up every morning now, <br />You, my dearest friend, always occupy my thought. <br />The slightest mind has you within, wondering and longing <br />to the chance of welcoming the days of you and me <br /> <br />A stain, and so they say, is an embroidery of what is called 'life' <br />And now, seeing things from the other side of the river, <br />Everything is intertwined, <br />Creating a captivating Northern Light of our very own <br /> <br />Nonetheless, how I wish I could catapult my pages read <br />To the chapters I’m not yet though <br />For the before and after you, seem to outreach the hands of time <br />And I can barely see myself in between <br /> <br />As the gaps now widening, <br />I’m losing the familiar figure whose compassion was always cherished <br />And when every bit of truth spits another bitterness, <br />can we ever go back to the days of you and me? <br /> <br />There’s no single day pass without me regretting, <br />Yet I thank you for this wayward, so-called truth <br />But as for now, <br />if I may, can I have the days back?<br /><br />Saskia Harjono<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-days-of-you-and-me/
