Good days can't be created. They just come.
If you plan things, they may go wrong:
There could be a traffic jam,
bad weather or a row,
a headache or a cold or indigestion.
Or things just won't be memorable
for no clear reason.

But another, unsought day
will manage to combine a dozen threads:
some sunlight, pleasant sights or sounds;
a drink or two; good food and company;
keen conversation, jokes and bonhomie.

If someone knew the formula,
it could be patented.
Coca-Cola would go bankrupt.
Cocaine would be forgotten.

Robert Melliard

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/good-days-4/
