On donkey's back, with child in womb, <br />The Virgin Mary came; <br />They travelled long to Bethlehem <br />And searched for room in vain! <br /> <br />That winter's days were freezing cold, <br />And dark were nights untold; <br />With advanced pregnancy she went <br />With Joseph to her hold! <br /> <br />The time for baby to be born <br />Was nearing fast with pain; <br />The poor Mary suffered the pangs, <br />As they winded each lane! <br /> <br />All that they got was a stable just, <br />As inn was occupied; <br />Nevertheless, they took it up, <br />As that was Heaven's Will! <br /> <br />And in the wee hours before morn, <br />Emmanuel was born! <br />In swaddled clothes, the baby lay <br />-The new-born King on hay! <br /> <br />And thus the love of God for man <br />Took man's form upon earth; <br />He was God's one begotten Son <br /> -Savior of human race! <br /> <br />The boy was born as Scriptures said, <br />‘A Virgin would bear child! ' <br />‘And crush the serpent's head to death, <br />Heaven would win o'er hell! ' <br /> <br />The babe had brought both joy and peace, <br />And hope to sinners all; <br />He would carry a cross to death, <br />But rise third day, alive! <br /> <br />We thank you Christ for being born <br />In abject poverty; <br />We thank you for obeying God <br />For our Eternity! <br /> <br />‘Happy Birthday, Lord Jesus dear!
