The shadows move, <br />Without watching the ground. <br />They try to speak, <br />But there is no sound. <br /> <br />They look to the heavens, <br />Seeking refuge from hell. <br />They cover their faces, <br />Never removing their veil. <br /> <br />They follow lost souls, <br />Hoping to reveal, <br />Their lost hearts, <br />And yet the earth moves still. <br /> <br />They unclose their eyes, <br />And look through the past. <br />Recovering their memories. <br />Crying tears that don't last. <br /> <br />They call to the gods, <br />Hoping for an answer, <br />But depression comes instead. <br />Covering them like a cancer. <br /> <br />They stare unwillingly, <br />At what lies ahead. <br />They speak not to the living, <br />And remain only with the dead.<br /><br />Amanda Miller<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/shadows-67/
