It’s the complexities of chemistry amongst <br />the attraction of two chests, stuck beating <br />for breaths beneath the flesh. <br />Imagine if we could bleed words <br />in bright reds and beautiful fonts, <br />if we alleviated our bodies from our <br />heads and undid these locks… <br />A clear passageway for feelings <br />to freely fall into place, <br />rather than forcing them to travel <br />the intricate journey to our mouths; <br />a trip through tongue tangling twists, <br />trapped by the touching of teeth. <br />We’re fortunate for our poetries <br />to even stretch to the ledges of our lips <br />because often they are held up, <br />haunted by the depths of a past kiss. <br /> <br />The mind is an amazingly complicated <br />application to ruining everything; <br />stopping love that hasn’t started <br />while stealing feelings to tamper <br />withtheir true meaning and intention, <br />leaving altered images dangling in suspension. <br />And we stare at these hanging portraits <br />as if they hold the truth of stars, <br />as if they were dancing from the <br />strings of the marionette of fate. <br />The heart is gorgeous, but pressed <br />perfectly within the chest under layers <br />upon layers of costumed skin and premeditated flesh. <br /> <br />It’s the chemistry of complication within <br />a war between the heart and mind… <br /> <br />…and the love between us is sadly its battlefield.<br /><br />Michael Biondi<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/if-our-hearts-could-speak-freely/
