I never saw before unburied treasure,
But what I have seen will obscure such glow
The love-bond of a homeless and sparrow,
In abandon sharing congruous pleasure.
A chunk of bread and gaiety free and pure,
Thus his soiled fingers a portion did allow,
While with antics the sparrow assuaged his woe,
And in both hearts did happiness endure.
Many are the sorrows and pains in life
Which send a longing thought to contemplate
Love and beauty, so in one's heart abate
With blissful endeavor the miseries rife,
And perhaps as if like them we actuate,
All orphan hearts would be comforted in their strife.

Jaime Montanez Salcedo

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-homeless-and-the-sparrow/
