Spring dances in the air,
Filling every heart with gladness
Filling every mind with madness.
Each, after a walk around the parking lot,
Wonders: 'Why ever did I come back in? '

Our office travesty of air! It's been
Recycled countless times,
Through the lungs of the copiers,
Through the lungs of the coughing cold sufferers.
It's the same air we've had all winter.
The smokers of course have it best
They get more fresh air the rest.

The geese've paired up and soon
There'll be goslings pecking at the grass,
The turkeys stopped their displays weeks ago
And've vanished into the thickets,
The trees are hard at work,
Turning the sun into blooms
And seeds and leaves and growth,
Frantic to get all they can done
Before Summer's insects, heat and drought.
And I have a release that needs to go out.

But I think I'll knock off early.
Go home, get the dog and go for a walk,
Step for a time, outside of creation.
Then I'll have dinner to cook
And the reluctant children
'll need coaxing about their homework.

I'll drink some wine before going to bed,
And listen to the night,
And to the frogs' singing
How passionate are their prayers!
Spring dances through the air,
Filling every heart with gladness
Filling every mind with madness.

William L Roberts

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/spring-dances-in-the-air/
