Who wins at the tennis why should I even care <br />When in their huge winnings I won't be one to share <br />Yet some people travel far to watch their favourite players play <br />And just for that privilege most of their hard earned savings pay <br />The flags of many Nations one sees in the crowd <br />Suppose 'tis not hard to make some people feel proud, <br />Just to watch their compatriot chase and hit a tennis ball <br />I do find it hard to make sense of it all <br />But then I'm a cynic why pay heed to me <br />In feats of sporting greatness the greatness I cannot see <br />Yet the sports fans I envy for their passion and energy <br />As they urge on their idols on to victory <br />The names of their heroes and heroines they chant and they sing <br />But then one might say they are doing their own thing.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/why-should-i-even-care/
