Heavy dark and threatening,
The sky is closing in.
And either looking up or inward,
The outlook can be grim.
We all have blackened moments,
When life just grinds us down.
But it’s how we come back from them,
How we bounce back, or turn things round.
‘In each cloud a silver lining’,
‘When life ends another’s born’.
And the grey skies will lift, to reveal,
A bright blue, sunny morn.
So when the day seems endless,
Life’s battles almost lost.
Just remember you’ll get through it soon,
But maybe not without cost.
For ‘what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger’,
And ‘tomorrow IS a brand new day’.
And there’ll always be a blanket of blue,
Behind that heavy dark sky of grey.

Heath Gunn

Heath Gunn

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/when-life-just-grinds-us-down/
