I always wanted to be a subtle person, <br />not too obvious with my overwhelming obsessions; <br />but anymore, I've become an invisible person, <br />completely unaware of affections for anyone. <br /> <br />I'd like to start something monumental <br />like a marriage or a family <br />but I'm closer to the finished product <br />of a cemetery stay in soft hues of summer shade. <br /> <br />I've never wanted to imitate anyone <br />but I've still completely failed <br />at being extraordinarily and fascinatingly original, <br />I've become a dull uniqueness at best. <br /> <br />I'm no longer enchanted by sunlight on a woman's hair, <br />I'm no longer perplexed if a particular girl knows I exist, <br />I'm no longer writing poetry in search of perfume, <br />I'm content to just say brief prayers in a lonely room. <br /> <br />I once flirted with a maid after I left your hotel suite, <br />merely moments before I was in adoration of your feet, <br />such personal superficiality felt like defeat, <br />I learned from myself just how incomplete love can be. <br /> <br />I'll send you at least one more Valentine's Day card <br />if it has to be mailed from the grave, <br />I just want one more chance to apologize <br />and to offer you something you can save <br />from a man who once meant well concerning you.<br /><br />Uriah Hamilton<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/concerning-you-3/
