Sorrow has become such a huge part of my life, <br />The pain I have felt in my short life is enough to scorch a thousand men to ashes, <br />When I was young I had so much hope and love, <br />I was full of trust and forgiveness. <br /> <br />No sooner had someone hurt me than I forgot, <br />Now my heart has been hardened by too much pain, <br />My soul is numb with fear, <br />Fear of being hurt fear of crying. <br />The fear overwhelms me and stops me cold in my track <br /> <br />What happened to the innocent wide eyed child that once was me? <br />I will tell you, she died along with all the feeling, <br />She died along with all the guilt, <br />She had been hurt too much she ran away and hide, <br />She hides from humanity and love <br />She hides from second chances because she does not feel safe <br /> <br />What is it in us humans that make us inflict pain on each other? <br />Why are humans so uncaring towards one another? <br />Life when I look at it looks so hopeless, <br />There is so much hate, greed, lust, vengeance <br />My goodness what ever happened to loving ones neighbors? <br /> <br />Everywhere I go I see pain, suffering, hurting, and tears. <br />No longer do I see smiles and hand shakes <br />Hugs and kisses between lovers, or loved ones <br />What a shame indeed. <br /> <br />Sorrow has now become my home, <br />Sadness my bed, <br />Regret my pillow, <br />Tears my covers, <br />Depression, my best friend. <br /> <br />Elizabeth Jacqueline Mpanga<br /><br />Elizabeth Jacqueline Mpanga<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lamentations-of-a-sad-soul/
