George it's been a few months since <br />you're gone and <br />of course we know that someday I'll also <br />be gone <br />I've been on this rocker, <br />thinking that perhaps 'gone' <br />is a little like this porch where you and <br />I used to sit summer evenings to <br />discuss finer points of <br />things like these <br />well nurtured tomato plants and <br />the most wondrous shape of <br />Miss Annie's breasts and <br />various other nature topics, how we <br />cracked open cold brew and <br />reminisced about youth like the time <br />we waited for the lifeguards to <br />go home and lived our dare to swim the longest length of the lake <br />even though we had never swam any further than the dock <br />and our parents so mortified that we could have drowned, but <br />then again, I would have learned a long time ago what it's like to <br />be gone<br /><br />Lee Crowell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/george-it-s-been-a-few-months-since/
